Brazilian drummer Luiz Santos (photo), who recently moved back to New York area from Florida will be performing on October 2nd with a line up of great musicians. EMIT presents its second festival of Brazilian jazz on Saturday, July 29 at the St. Petersburg College Music Center. The concert begins at 8 PM. There is a pre-concert talk with Haroldo Mauro at 7 PM.

Opening the program is O Som Do Jazz (the sound of jazz), a 7-member ensemble made up of Brazilian and American musicians performing bossa nova, samba, jazz, Tropicalia and MPB (popular music of Brazil). The group features the vocals of Rio de Janeiro vocalist Andrea Moraes Manson and recently performed at the opening of Lights On Tampa.

After a brief intermission, visiting Rio de Janeiro pianist Haroldo Mauro, Jr. (http://hmauro.com/) performs bossa nova standards and original works from his new release, Bossa na Press�o (steaming bossa). Joining him will be acoustic bassist Mark Neuenschwander and Brazilian drummer Luiz Santos.
